Animal Control Local Regulations
Pullman Animal Services would like to welcome all newcomers to the City of Pullman! In addition to pet owners, we also would like to take the opportunity to inform the public about a few Ordinances pertaining to animals.
VACCINATIONS
All cats and dogs residing in the city of Pullman must be vaccinated for Rabies.
(P.C.C. 9.30.010) Check with your veterinarian for costs and details regarding the vaccination process. This vaccination is required by the State of Washington, and is important in keeping your pet healthy and happy.
LICENSING
All dogs over 6 months of age and that have resided in the City for 30 days must be licensed with Pullman Animal Services. (P.C.C. 9.10.010) Licenses can be purchased at the Pullman Police Department (260 SE Kamiaken St.) 24 hours a day. To receive a license, dogowners must show proof of valid Rabies vaccination. Costs are:
spayed or neutered dogs: Lifetime license for $8.00
unsterilized dogs: Annual license for $20.00. Licensing helps law enforcement personnel and citizens to return pets to their owners should they get lost. Cats can also be licensed voluntarily with the above conditions. We recommend to at least put an identification tag on a break away or stretch collar to inform people where a lost cat belongs.
LEASH LAW
Pullman also has a 24 hour leash law. All dogs must be on a leash and under control of its owner or other responsible party when off the owner’s property. (P.C.C. 9.20.030) Dogs running at large are subject to impoundment at the Pullman Animal Shelter. Chance of impoundment increases if the animal has no visible identification. When walking dogs off of the owner’s property, the keeper needs to clean up any fecal matter the dog eliminates. (P.C.C. 9.20.110)
For more information on the above ordinances and on additional animal ordinances, please contact the Pullman Police Department at (509) 334-0802.
