How much water does your toilet use?
Although toilets all look pretty much alike, the amount of water released by flushing varies widely from one toilet to another.  Generally speaking, the older the toilet, the more water it uses. For directions on how to determine how much water your toilet uses click here.

Did you know?
In America, 6.8 billion gallons of water per day is flushed down toilets.

Toilet Rebate Program

Stop flushing money down the drain – earn rebate for a low flow toilet

City program offers rebate for switching to water efficient toilets

In an effort to encourage water conservation, the City of Pullman will soon offer toilet replacement rebates. Beginning March 18, Pullman residents and business owners that switch out an old toilet for a low flush version may earn a rebate of up to $125.

Typically, toilets made before 1982 use 5 to 7 gallons per flush. Today there are many low flow options such as an Ultra Flow Toilet (1.6 gallons per flush) or a High Efficiency Toilet (less than 1.28 gallons per flush). Switching over one toilet can save as much as 10,000 gallons per year, and now through Pullman’s Toilet Rebate Program it is economically advantageous to switch. To be qualified for the rebate, an applicant must be an owner of a residential or commercial property served by the City of Pullman Water System and be replacing his or her existing pre-code toilet with either a new Ultra Low Flow Toilet or a High Efficiency Toilet. In order to receive the rebate, applicants first complete a Water Conservation Rebate Application. Then their old toilet must be inspected before the new low flow toilet is installed.

The Water Conservation Rebate Application is available at the Public Works or Finance Departments in City Hall at 325 Paradise Street. For additional information please call (509)338-3242 or if you prefer click here to send an email.
