Guidelines for Donated Materials

The Library accepts gifts of materials as well as monetary donations for materials or for special projects. Often gifts are given in memory of a loved one or to commemorate a special event. Gift plates with the donor's name as well as the name of the person being remembered are placed in or on the item.

Materials donated to the Library will be added to the library's collection if they meet the criteria for materials selection. If donated items are not added to the collection, they will be placed in our Friends of NPL book sale, given to educational or charitable organizations, or recycled.

Donations to the Library can be given directly or through the Friends of Neill Public Library. All donations are tax deductible. Donors may request a receipt, but they must assign the value of the donation themselves. The library can only sign for the number of items donated.

Once given, all gifts are the property of Neill Public Library and will be treated on an equal basis with the purchased materials concerning the inclusion, display, housing, circulation and disposition of the material.
