DUI Patrols County-Wide
PULLMAN – DUI emphasis patrols will be held across Whitman County this coming weekend, April 10-12, and again the weekend of April 24-25. Funded through a grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission, with local support by the Spokane County Target Zero Task Force, these patrols aim to keep Washington roadways safe by removing impaired drivers. The Pullman Police Department joins other local agencies, including the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office, WSU Police Department, and the Colfax Police Department in participating in DUI emphasis patrols.
In Whitman County, 50% (12 of 24) of all traffic deaths from 2009 through 2014 involved a motorist who was driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs. In 2014 alone, 75% of traffic deaths in Whitman County (3 of 4) involved an alcohol or drug impaired driver.
Don’t forget: Your choices have a lasting impact on your loved ones, your fellow drivers, and your community. Please, be responsible. Designate a driver.
