City Council seeks applications for vacant council seat
PULLMAN – Mayor Glenn Johnson announced that the resignation of Pullman City Councilmember C.B. ‘Barney’ Waldrop, effective Dec. 31, 2011, necessitates initiation of the legal process to fill a vacant city council seat. Former Councilmember Waldrop represented a Ward 2 position.
Eligibility requirements for the position are:
1. Must be a registered voter (United States citizen; age 18 and over) at the time of application and a resident of the city of Pullman for a period of one year prior to appointment.
2. Must reside in Ward 2 on the date of his or her candidacy. Ward 2 lies in the north central area of Pullman. Specific boundaries of the ward can be obtained by contacting the city clerk in Pullman City Hall or in Chap. 1.76 of Pullman City Code online at www.pullman-wa.gov.
Applicants should indicate their interest by submitting a letter of application which addresses the ability to meet the above-referenced requirements. A résumé, vita, or any other written information which the applicant feels may assist the city council in the selection process may be included. Each candidate is requested to answer a standard set of questions. Copies of those questions are available at the mayor’s office in city hall. Answers to the questions must be submitted with the application. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23 at the

All information submitted is a matter of public record. The person who is appointed by the city council must take an oath of office and submit a completed Conflict of Interest statement to the State Public Disclosure Commission within two weeks of appointment. The appointee will serve until the results of the November 2013 municipal election are certified by the Whitman County Auditor.
