Throughout the month of February, Neill Public Library will collect non-perishable items
to assist with the shortages affecting local food banks. According to local media, Second Harvest in
Spokane has suspended deliveries because of decreasing donations.
The library is excited to support the Pullman Community Action Center as a donation location for the
month of February and offer an incentive as part of the library’s Food for Fines campaign. Each library
patron donating a non-perishable item will receive a waiver for their existing overdue fines, with a
maximum of $10 per account waived. And if you don’t have overdue fines at the library, you’re still
welcome to donate any non-perishable items.
Item recommendations include:
• Peanut butter
• Jam/jelly
• Soup
• Canned vegetables
• Pasta
• Pasta sauce
• Granola bars
• Canned fruit
• Baby wipes
• Diapers (all sizes)
• Hygiene items (shampoo, body wash,
toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.)
Please note, fine waivers do not apply to fees for lost or damaged library items. All donations will be
distributed to the Pullman Community Action Center.
