Pullman Earns 26th Tree City USA Honor
Posted on 04/04/2023
PULLMAN, WA—Pullman was recognized for the 26th time as a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its steadfast commitment to effective urban forest management.

“Earning Tree City USA is something we strive for every year. It’s a reflection of the knowledge and hard work of our Parks staff as well as the key contributions made by others from across our organization,” said Parks & Facilities Director Kurt Dahmen. “Considering what trees offer our community aesthetically, environmentally, and otherwise, their health and care will remain a priority for our team.”

Pullman Parks & Recreation will fulfill one of the requirements to earn Tree City USA recognition by holding its annual Arbor Day Celebration set to occur on April 25, at 2:00 p.m. The community is invited to share in the event as the Pullman Preschool class will assist City staff in planting a tree on the grounds of the Pullman Recreation Center. The Pullman Recreation Center is located at 190 SE Crestview Street, Building “B.”

Trees are assets to a community when properly planted and maintained. They help to improve the visual appeal of our neighborhoods, increase property values, reduce home cooling costs, remove air pollutants, and provide wildlife habitat, among many other benefits.
