Rider Alerts 

City View Street will be closed starting with June 29, for a few days

Effective June 29, Paradise Route (and possible Lentil Route if the work project is not complete by July 1st), will NOT be servicing the regular bus stop at City View and James due to road construction. These routes will detour via Fountain Street to the next regular stop.


 Wilmer-Davis Road Construction

Effective May 9, 2022, construction road for Wilmer-Davis on Campus Street will result in road closure, affecting some of our routes. The Chinook bus stop will NOT be serviced during the summer months. Blue Route and Community Express will take a left turn after Honors Hall onto Campus Street. Blue Route will continue to the Transfer Station, while Community Service Express will use Opal and Colorado to return to Smith Gyms. Two new temporary bus stops will be in effect on Colorado: one at Ruby and another one at Thatuna.

Both Wheat and Lentil (weekends and holidays) will not turn onto Campus Street, but instead will use Colorado to reach Smith Gyms. Once again, the Chinook bus stop will not be accessible. The same two temporary bus stops on Colorado, mentioned above, will be in service for Wheat and Lentil.


New Round-About on Terre View and North Fairway

Effective May 9, 2022, the intersection on Terre View and North Fairway will be closed for all traffic during the summer months. Community Service Express (during the week) and Wheat Route (on weekends and holidays) will proceed as normal on Merman and then Westwood, but after Birch Hills, they will execute a U-turn and proceed back on Westwood and then Merman, in the opposite direction, until back on regular route. The following bus stops will be closed: Maple Valley, Aspen Village, Cougar Ridge, and Terre View and Merman. Please proceed to the nearest bus stop on Merman to catch these two routes.


Mask Mandate No Longer In Effect

Starting immediately, the mask mandate for our drivers and passengers is no longer in effect. Masks are still recommended, but not required. We will still provide masks for those who request one. For a in-depth press release, please check out this link:

Fares and Passes
All passes may be purchased at City Hall in the Finance Department or at the WSU Visitors Center.

Pullman School District passes are valid Monday - Friday during the school year only. Those students that have their ASB card punched with a shape cutout are eligible to ride our School Bus Routes to and from school. All students with an ASB card may ride any Pullman Transit bus, Monday through Friday, free of charge by showing their card to the driver. Pullman Transit also has Youth School Year Passes, Semi-Annual Passes, Monthly Passes and Summer Youth Passes available. Please see the chart below for prices.

The General Public may ride Pullman Transit by paying per ride or by purchasing a Monthly, Semi-Annual or Annual pass. Please see the chart below for pricing. All transfers are free of charge. When accompanied by an adult, all pre-kindergarten children can ride the bus free of charge.

WSU Students, Staff and Faculty can ride the bus by presenting their valid WSU identification when boarding the bus.

All Transfers are free of charge. Please let your driver know of your intentions to transfer to another route to ensure that you make your proper connection in a timely manner. If you are unsure of where and when to transfer, ask your driver for assistance and they will be happy to assist you.

Bicycle Racks

Bike racks may be used on a first-come first-served basis.Use of the bike rack is free to all riders.

  • Easy-to-use instructions are located on the bike rack.
  • Riders are expected to load and unload their own bikes, but ask your driver for assistance if needed.
  • Remove all loose items before placing your bike in the rack.
  • Load your bike from the CURB side of the bus.
  • When possible, choose a seat where you can see your bike.
  • Don't forget your bike after you get off the bus!
  • Please let the driver know as you exit that you will be removing your bike.
If the rack on the front of the bus is full and you have a bicycle with you, it may be brought onto the bus under the following conditions:
  • Pullman Transit drivers may allow bicycles in the passenger compartment when the bike rack is full, space allows, and when doing so will not jeopardize customer safety.
  • Pullman Transit recommends placing the bicycle in the mobility device securement area if it is available (although mobility device securements may NOT be used to secure a bike).
  • Whether your bicycle is placed in the mobility securement device area or another area of the bus, bicyclists must physically hang onto the bike to ensure its securement throughout their trip.
  • Bicyclists are expected to bring the bicycle on/off the bus using the front door.
How to Ride a Transit Bus
  1. Look for your neighborhood bus stop. There are stops in every neighborhood, downtown and on WSU campus. The information on the bus stop sign will let you know when your bus should arrive and what direction it will be traveling. We encourage all riders to be at their bus stop 5 minutes before the scheduled arrival. Riders can also scan the QR code on the bus stop sign to locate their bus in real time.
  2. Find your route and Bus Stop. You can go to pullmantransit.com and click on the Routes and Schedule for individual maps and time schedules and to view bus stop locations. You can also download the mobile app from the main page or our website to view your bus live and much more.
  3. Make sure we don't pass you by. Every now and then a rider gets left behind because the driver did not see them. Here are some tips to help you get noticed.
    a) Stand visibly at the stop.
    b) Face the bus and nod your head "yes" or wave to the driver.
    c) Step forward when the bus is about 1/2 block away.
    d) If you are in a shelter, walk to the stop as the bus approaches.
  4. Respect the rights of other riders. We encourage everyone to ride the bus but everyone must respect the rights of other customers. See below for a list of conduct rules and guidelines for riding the bus.
Bus Conduct

Prohibited Actions:

  • Use of tobacco products.
  • Littering or creating unsanitary conditions.
  • Dumping any material on a Pullman Transit bus.
  • Playing radios, tapes, or CD's except through earphones.
  • Spitting, urinating, or defecating.
  • Carrying gasoline, explosives, or corrosive or flammable liquids likely to cause harm to others.
  • Obstructing, impeding the flow, or seriously disrupting transportation services.
  • Disturbing others with loud or harassing behavior.
  • Cursing or foul language.
  • Vandalizing or destroying Pullman Transit property.
  • Carrying alcohol or controlled substances.
  • Throwing an object at a Pullman Transit bus or property.
  • Allowing an animal to run at large or sit on a seat.
  • Eating or drinking on Pullman Transit buses.
  • Sitting or lying on floors.
  • Remaining in an area reserved for senior citizens or people who are disabled.
  • Engaging in sexual activity on a bus.
  • Tampering with equipment.

Courtesy Actions:

  • Animals must be in a carrier that fits under the seat or in your lap.
  • Non-collapsible strollers, baby buggies and carts cannot block the aisles. Please collapse your stroller before entering the bus if possible.
  • Please respect your fellow riders.
  • Pullman Transit will make reasonable modifications to its policies, practices, or procedures when requested to do so by individuals with disabilities when such accommodations are necessary to avoid discrimination on the basis of disability. Requests for accommodations will be considered on a case-by-case basis. To request a reasonable modification  to a policy, practice, or procedure, please contact Pullman Transit's Manager or Operations Supervisor at 509-332-6535 and we will be happy to assist you.
Transit Service & History
Pullman Transit was founded in 1979 to serve the Pullman and Washington State University communities. Our fleet consists of:
3 x 35-foot Gillig phantom buses
5 x 35-ft. Gillig diesel coach buses
7 x 40-ft. Gillig diesel coaches
3 x 35-ft. Gillig electric-hybrid coach buses
3 x 40-ft. Gillig electric hybrid coach buses
6 x Para-transit vans

We operate seven days per week, with the fixed routes providing 1.4 million rides annually, mostly to university students. Our expanded service during the WSU school year is Monday - Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., Saturday from 9:15 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

During the remainder of the year we operate from 6:30 a.m. to 6:45 p.m., with modified service on most major holidays.

Our core Community Routes are the Silver, Blue, Paradise, Coffee, Loop, and Coffee, while Express Routes provide service between the WSU campus and the student housing areas located north of campus.

We also provide morning and afternoon school bus service to Pullman School District's middle and high school students.

Our Dial-A-Ride provides para-transit van service to elderly and disabled patrons. Dial-A-Ride provides 20,000 rides each year, and operates during the same times that the fixed bus routes operate.

Pullman Transit employs 32 drivers, six dispatchers, and five bus washers.
Directions to Transit
From Palouse: Arrive in Pullman via Grand Avenue. Follow Grand Avenue to Whitman Street. Turn right. Turn right onto State Street. Turn left onto Park Street. Follow Park Street for 0.5 miles. Park Street turns into Guy Street. Pullman Transit offices will be on your left.

From Moscow: Arrive in Pullman via Main Street. Follow Main Street to Grand Avenue. Turn right. Turn left onto Davis Way and then turn right onto State Street. Turn left onto Park Street. Follow Park Street for 0.5 miles. Park Street turns into Guy Street. Pullman Transit offices will be on your left.

From Colfax/Spokane: Arrive in Pullman via Davis Way. Turn left onto State Street. Turn left onto Park Street. Follow Park Street for 0.5 miles. Park Street turns into Guy Street. Pullman Transit offices will be on your left.

From Lewiston/Clarkston: Arrive in Pullman via Grand Ave. Follow Grand Avenue to Davis Way and turn left. Turn right onto State Street. Turn left onto Park Street. Follow Park Street for 0.5 miles. Park Street turns into Guy Street. Pullman Transit offices will be on your left.
ADA Policy and Complaint Form
Title VI Statement
Title VI, 42 U.S.C 2000d et seq, was enacted as part of the landmark Civil rights Act of 1964. It prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. As President John F. Kennedy said in 1963,

“Simple justice requires that public funds to which all taxpayers of all races {colors, and national origins} contribute, not be spent in any fashion which encourages, entrenches, subsidizes, or results in racial {color or national origin} discrimination."

If a recipient of federal assistance is found to have discriminated and the assistance should either initiate fund termination proceedings or refer the matter to the Department of Justice for appropriate legal action. Aggrieved individuals may file administration complaints with the federal agency that provides funds to a recipient, or the individuals may file suit for appropriate relief in federal court. Title VI itself prohibits intentional discrimination. However, most funding agencies have regulations implementing Title VI that prohibit recipient practices that have the effect of discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin.
