Construction of the Sarah M. Moore Memorial River Nook begins August 4.  The Pullman City Council awarded construction to Shawn Cole Construction, Inc. on July 13.  The River Nook is a memorial to Sarah M. Moore from her family and consists of an elevated viewing deck with seating overlooking the river by Neill Public Library.  Sarah was a long-time volunteer at Neill Public Library and a board member of the Friends of Neill Public Library.  Sarah designed and planted much of the landscaping currently around the library and created the conceptual design of the River Nook to provide a quiet place for reading, reflection, and for community to gather.  This project is funded entirely through private donations from Sarah’s family and friends, including Reliant Engineering who donated more than 50% of its engineering costs.

Project specifications and drawings are available from the City of Pullman’s website:  https://www.cityofpullmanplanroom.com/jobs/12410/specs/sarah-m-moore-memorial-river-nook/?preview=1311058.  Parking at the library will be temporarily reduced during construction.  Project completion is expected by mid-October.
