Posting Signs on Public Property

Pullman City Code prohibits the general public from posting signs on public property within City limits. According to Pullman City Code (Chapter 8.20), attaching a handbill or flier containing commercial advertising upon public property, motor vehicle, dwellings, or other structure, without the consent of the owner or occupant, constitutes a civil infraction.

Public property includes light poles, traffic signals, parking or regulation signs, street signs, and other utility poles/structures. Yard and garage sale signs are considered commercial advertising.

The Pullman Police Department reminds citizens that each violation of Pullman City Code Chapter 8.20 is punishable by a fine of up to $500. Always obtain permission from the property owner before posting or staking signs, fliers, banners or other advertising items.
