Flood Preparedness Briefing, January 27, 2020
Posted on 01/27/2020
City of Pullman Winter UpdateAs predictions and local weather services identify the potential for localized flooding, we would like to share with you what actions we have taken to prepare. While we do not consider flooding at this time to be imminent, we are continuously monitoring and have taken some preparatory steps as well. The downtown flood wall, to help prevent overflow from Paradise Creek during a flood event, has been in place since late last week. The cleaning of catch basins have been ramped up with a specific focus on those known to back up during flood events. In addition to our routine work, crews have filled some sandbags to have ready should a flood event become a reality. Crews are still scheduled to work 3:00 AM to 12:00 AM, Monday through Friday, and have the ability to call in additional staff support if need be.
As with all weather events, unpredictability is the name of the game and we are ready to adjust our plan should the need arise.
