City Earns 19th Consecutive WellCity Honors
Posted on 02/27/2023
PULLMAN, WA—The Association of Washington Cities (AWC) recently recognized the City of Pullman as a 2023 WellCity, the City’s 19th consecutive honor. The honor is presented to cities and government organizations that meet the AWC Employee Benefit Trust’s stringent WellCity standards and demonstrate a commitment to employee health.

As an added benefit, WellCity recipients earn a 2% discount on their medical premiums, a taxpayer savings of approximately $80,000.

City of Pullman Human Resources Generalist and Wellness Committee member, Cheryl Stout, fulfilled the extensive application requirements for this award. She, along with other members of the Wellness Committee and City staff, helped position the City to again be recognized for its commitment to healthy work policies, environments, and wellness programs.

“This honor is a testament to how each City employee contributes to an amicable workplace culture and how we empower our peers to value and maintain good health,” said Stout. “I’m proud of our employees, Wellness Committee members, and leadership for putting forth the effort to earn WellCity recognition once again.”

The AWC Employee Benefit Trust is Washington's premier health benefit provider for cities, towns, and other local governments. Pullman Mayor Glenn Johnson has served as chair of the Employee Benefit Trust since 2011.
