Engineering

The Engineering Division is primarily responsible for the following:

• Interacting with the public to serve a wide array of needs, concerns, information dissemination, and communication;
• Working with the construction industry to provide appropriate permits, project inspections, and information and knowledge needs;
• Record-keeping;
• Mapping (a vital part of the record-keeping mission);
• Traffic improvements for vehicles and pedestrians;
• Street addressing;
• Federal, State, and local code compliance;
• Working with franchise utility companies;
• Design and/or monitoring of public and certain private construction activities; and
• Improving the quality, efficiency, and timeliness of meeting public needs.

Engineering staff interacts closely with other City Divisions and Departments to supply a range of products and services including mapping, drafting, engineering, and surveying services.
